Genevieve Asher was a top student at the Conservatorium, playing trombone. Although she tried out for many Symphony Orchestra positions, she never made the cut. The fault lay not in her playing, but with her gender. Through fun but deceptive means, she overcame the resistance of the judging panel to finally win a place in the orchestra, despite members of the panel who opposed the decision.
